LBDs are Jennifer Aniston’s secret weapon. In the ’90s and noughties she regularly favored little black dresses, and she still chooses all-black for some of her most high-profile appearances. Take the outfit she wore to The Hollywood Reporter’s Power 100 Women in Entertainment event. Aniston took to the stage in a belted black jumpsuit cut with a strapless neckline (off-the-shoulder is a signature look for Jen An).
Aniston won the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the ceremony. During her acceptance speech she paid tribute to her humble “19-year-old self” and the times that she worked as a waitress in between auditions.
Back to black dresses—she’s worn several for appearances in 2020 and 2021. Highlights include: the embellished Dolce & Gabbana gown she wore on Jimmy Kimmel in September; the vintage John Galliano for Dior dress she wore to last year’s Emmys; and the voluptuous gown she wore to the Golden Globes, held pre-Covid in January 2020.
Though her more recent forays into black are admirable, her ’90s and noughties all-black looks reign supreme. Take the daring low-cut gown she wore to attend the Oscars in 2000, alongside Brad Pitt, or the glove-dress combo she wore to the Emmys in 1995. The vintage Valentino gown she sported at the 2004 Golden Globes is another winner, as is the draped Balenciaga mini she wore to a premiere in 2008. Bring on awards season – and look out for Jen An in black.
