Another day, another Hollywood couple that makes you go “… Really?” This time around, welcome Ben Affleck, 47, and Ana de Armas, 31, to the club. The duo are speculated to be romantically linked since they were spotted vacationing together in Havana, Cuba, in March.
Here’s everything we know about their relationship so far.
March 23, 2020: The couple kiss while walking the dog.
Taking a break from their self-quarantine, the new couple was spotted walking de Armas’s pooch around the block in Pacific Palisades, California. They even shared a quick kiss during their stroll.
Affleck looked casual in khakis, a black sweater, and a navy blue jacket. De Armas sported an all-black outfit, with leather pants and a bomber, finished with pink slides for a pop of color.
March 22, 2020: Jennifer Garner is happy for her ex-husband.
A source tells Us Weekly that Garner supports her ex-husband’s newfound romance with de Armas. “Jen has completely moved on from Ben in a romantic sense. She considers him a friend, thinks he is a good dad to their children and respects him,” a source told the outlet. “She is happy in her own life and supportive of him and happy for him and his relationship.”
Meanwhile, another source for the outlet divulged that de Armas is on cloud nine.
“Ana is very happy with Ben,” the insider said. “She loves spending time with him and they have great chemistry and a lot of fun together.”
March 19, 2020: Ben and Ana go on a coffee date in Los Angeles.
Affleck and de Armas were spotted linking arms and smiling big when they went for a brief coffee run in Los Angeles. The couple coordinated in gray coats, and de Armas even brought her dog along for the cuppa date.
“They had great chemistry right from the start,” a source said to People, referring to when the duo first met on set of their upcoming film, Deep Water. “Ben always seemed very relaxed and happy around Ana, but at the time there were no signs of romance. He was very focused on making a fantastic movie. He arrived early and was one of the last people to leave.”
March 18, 2020: Ana posts photos from their romantic beachside stroll.
Paparazzi photos from Affleck and de Armas’s Costa Rica vacation showed the couple strolling down a beach while the Gone Girl actor snapped pictures of his beau with a camera. Now, de Armas has posted those photos onto her Instagram, and they’re every bit as romantic as we thought they’d be.
The first photo features de Armas gazing into the camera, while the next few photos are blurred snapshots of her walking across the shoreline.
March 16, 2020: Ana has nothing but good things to say about Ben.
For Vogue Spain‘s April cover story, de Armas revealed exactly what she thought of Affleck while they filmed their upcoming movie, Deep Water.
“The first time we read the scenes together, it became pretty clear he was going to do something exceptional with a very complex role,” she said, as translated per People. “His character is the engine of the story and requires him to move between tragedy and irony or between realism and the most absurd comedy.”
She continued, “Not only does he know how to do it with ease, he also manages to surprise you in every shot. His talent is infinite.”
March 10, 2020: Their romance reaches Costa Rica.
After spending time in Cuba together, Affleck and de Armas’s relationship hit new heights in Costa Rica. Paparazzi even captured an intimate moment between the two as they had a romantic stroll down the beach.
As de Armas walked barefoot in a rust orange, maxi dress, Affleck wrapped his arm around her waist and leaned in for a sweet kiss.
March 10, 2020: A source reveals the couple “had a great time” during their Havana vacation.
A source for People divulged how much Affleck and de Armas (who was born in Cuba) enjoyed their vacation.
“Ben and Ana had a great time in Havana,” the insider said. “Ana was his tour guide and took him to all her favorite places. Ben seemed to love the trip. He was in a great mood and very friendly. He was approached by fans multiple times and happily posed for pictures. They visited several restaurants and enjoyed Cuban cuisine.”
The source, who the outlet reported is from the set of the actors’ upcoming thriller, Deep Water, also had nothing but kind words for the actress, saying de Armas “is great and very pleasant to be around. She always greets people with a smile and you never hear a complaint. She has this very calm and sweet personality.”
March 8, 2020: They head to Cuba together.
The couple embarked on a romantic getaway together to Havana, Cuba, in March. A source told People that they were seen making out in the airport before they boarded their private jet. “They are definitely dating,” the source added.
An onlooker quoted for Page Six repeated those claims of romance. “They were beaming,” the source said. “I saw Ana grab Ben’s arm as they walked out together, they looked super happy—she’s absolutely stunning! I totally think they’re dating.”
Multiple fan photos also show the two exploring the city together, from shopping at hat store Clandestina to visiting art museums.
Per People, Affleck was overheard speaking to de Armas in Spanish, since he fluently speaks the language. Another onlooker reportedly wrote, “Ben Affleck right behind me spitting game to Ana de Armas in Spanish all night long is a vibe.”
February 2020: Ben talks about his desire for a healthy relationship.
In a candid interview with Good Morning America, Affleck spoke vulnerably about his journey to sobriety, during which he credited fellow actor friends Bradley Cooper and Robert Downey Jr. for supporting him.
When asked where he sees himself in five years, his response was thoughtful. “Five years from now, Ben Affleck is sober and happy, and sees his kids three and a half days a week, and has made three or four movies that are interesting to him,” he responded. “[And] directed two [movies] that he’s hopefully proud of and is in a healthy, stable, loving, committed relationship.”
