Anne Hathaway’s debut at the Cannes Film Festival has received the Valentino treatment.
The Oscar-winning actress is now the latest celebrity to wear the Italian house’s signature shade of saturated hot pink, an explosive hue first unveiled on the fall/winter 2022 runway by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. Dubbed “Valentino Pink PP” by the Pantone color specialists who developed it, the electric fuchsia color doused 40 different looks in the collection and has since been worn by stars like Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, and Nicola Peltz.
“Stripping the palette down to a single hue, relentlessly, [Piccioli] does more with less, maximizing expressive possibilities in the apparent lack of possibilities,” the show notes stated. “The accumulation of pink elements is such as to eliminate the visual shock to bring out, together, the unique character of the person, expressed by the face and the eyes, and the work on the pieces of clothing: the signs that shape them into a silhouette, the textures that give them consistency, the decorations that are part of the construction. The subtraction is, in fact, amplification, magnifying both the humans and the clothing.”
BAZAAR.com has the exclusive first look of Hathaway’s all-pink ensemble. In photos shot by Greg Williams, the star dazzles in a long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder jumpsuit with a wide-leg silhouette and the house’s coveted Garavani platform heels. She accessorized sparingly with a pair of diamond earrings, allowing the rest of the outfit to talk for itself.
In the past, the Armageddon Time star has regularly relied on Valentino pieces to make a fashion statement.
Earlier this year, she and her longtime stylist Erin Walsh pulled multiple dresses from the brand while Hathaway embarked on a promo tour for Apple TV+’s WeCrashed. And, while walking the red carpet for the opening night of Broadway musical The Music Man, she opted for a bold diamond print coat and shoulder bag from Valentino.
