Fashion month is over; let the runway to red carpet games begin. Last week the world’s most stylish were quick to try out the ultra-romantic mood of spring/summer 2020, and the new-normal hemlines: mini and midi. At the world premiere of Zombieland world premiere Zoey Deutch went haute froth in pleated peach tulle by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Christian Dior while her co-star Emma Stone chose a relatively understated tea length dress by Nicolas Ghesquiere for Louis Vuitton. Both looks were unapologetically feminine and completely modern, which is always a winning combination.
Off the carpet, Margot Robbie continued her cool slate of off-duty looks in a chic simple shirtdress from Mille. Paired with high caramel boots and a matching box bag, Robbie’s monochromatic ensemble clever first step into fall: austere, autumnal, and with a hint of that Seventies/Nineties attitude that dominated the recent catwalks.
On the social circuit, warm hues and dramatic patterns took center stage. For Balmain’s dinner at Manhattan’s L’Avenue restaurant Justine Skye shined in a short full dress (Olivier Rousteing for Balmain of course) of shimmering sequins and a graphic print. For her event at the Guggenheim Museum Rihanna chose a leopard print dress from Anthony Vaccarello’s spring/summer 2020 collection for Yves Saint Laurent. Worn with snakeskin boots and piles of David Webb bangles, the look was yet more proof of her unstoppable fashion prowess (as if we needed it!).
