Tonight, the MTV Video Music Awards, one of music’s biggest nights, feature an eclectic list of nominees. Leading the pack of artists is Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, two pop stars who nabbed 10 nominations each this year. (Fun fact: they’re also two stars that have both graced Vogue covers this year!) Other acts up for big awards this evening? They include Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X in the competitive Video of the Year category; Cardi B, Grande, and Shawn Mendes for Artist of the Year; and Drake, Lady Gaga, and Swift for Song of the Year, among many other names and categories, including Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Power Anthem (to name a few).
Given tonight’s ceremony (which is now in its 36th year!) is all about celebrating videos—and yes, music videos are still as relevant as they were in the ’80s and ’90s, the heyday of the VMAs—we’re rounding up all of the cinematic hits that collected major awards tonight, from the best in hip-hop flexes, to the crucial song of the summer (will it be “Old Town Road”? Or “bad guy”?). Be sure to check back throughout the night to see all the trophy-winning clips in one place.
