Chanel is a fashion house known for many things, but its quilted purses are its most sought-after pieces. Those iconic box bags are a perfect example of the quiet, timeless aesthetic that French fashion embodies. That being said, the label has also reinvented its classic styles over the years: under the vision of the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel reworked its quilted handbags in various new shapes and treatments, and it seems Kylie Jenner has gotten her hands on a super rare item.
Taking to Instagram yesterday, Jenner debuted her new Chanel bag that is anything but a classic: her quilted heart-shaped style, in white patent, is actually a collector’s item from the ’90s. The bag, which comes with a gold chain top-handle and that signature CC logo, has resurfaced on various re-sale sites since it first debuted, but has consistently sold out pretty quick. Of course, a whimsical shape is nothing new for the brand—they even have a pyramid-shaped style in their newest collection—but Jenner’s style feels particularly special.
Taking her look even further, she then paired her bag with yet another throwback item: a wrap top by Christian Dior in a newspaper print from the John Galliano era. Meanwhile, Cotton Citizen jeans provided a clean, modern finish—after all, the rare items up top speak for themselves.
