The full nominees list for the 2019 MTV VMAs has been announced. The nominations for the awards ceremony—set to take place on August 26 in Newark, New Jersey—are led by two pop superstars: Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, who earned 10 nominations each this year, including video of the year and song of the year. Grande was also nominated for artist of the year, while Swift was not.
Although Swift and Grande unsurprisingly swept the categories, they were followed closely by newcomers Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X in the nominations tally. Eilish earned nine nods, while the “Old Town Road” rapper earned eight; both received nominations for best new artist. Meanwhile other big-name acts up for awards include usual suspects like Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Cardi B, Solange, and Drake, among many more.
Unlike last year’s ceremony, which went without a traditional emcee, comedian Sebastian Maniscalco will host the VMAs this year, and there are sure to be plenty of memes to take in, from the performances to the shady audience reactions.
