No one wears Chanel quite like Kristen Stewart. The Charlie’s Angels star and longtime brand ambassador has spent years putting an irreverent twist on the late Karl Lagerfeld’s designs, and as the house heads into its new era led by Virginie Viard, Stewart hasn’t missed a beat. At last night’s launch of the brand’s beauty collection, Noir et Blanc, she arrived at the Paris party in an updated version of the classic tweed suit.
Though her stand collar jacket and A-line skirt already had a modern verve, Stewart and stylist Tara Swennen focused on adding youthful details. Each piece was impactful: the white jacket opened to reveal a contrasting black lace bralette, color-blocked oxfords reminiscent of spats provided playfulness, and a wealth of logo-ed jewelry kept with the actress’s rock n’roll fashion philosophy.
A final touch of black winged eyeliner and her bleached blonde crop completed the effect, but Stewart’s attitude may have been the key to the outfit’s success. Singlehandedly taking the stuffiness out of a look that could have been all business, she made a fashion classic feel newly relevant.
