The first weekend of Coachella was a star-studded affair, with Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, and Harry Styles taking to the various stages (Justin Bieber and Shania Twain even made surprise cameos!). Setlists aside, this also meant there was tons of stage fashion to take in, which is always just as much a highlight and spectacle as the music. One musician whose Coachella style didn’t disappoint? That would be American singer-songwriter Conan Gray, who shut down his time slot while wearing a custom pink Valentino ensemble.
Gray is of course no stranger to stellar tour style. Earlier this month, Gray played at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver wearing a beaded vest and sheer top. Last month in New York, he also sang wearing a frilly white blouse and embroidered blazer. But his Coachella look was debatably one of his chicest yet: Gray wore a long, sheer dress that moved and swayed in the wind to dramatic effect. Underneath, he paired the dress with monochromatic trousers, and then accessorized with matching opera gloves and sky-high platforms. Because more is always more!
The whole ensemble was custom-made for Gray, but was a riff on Valentino’s fall 2022 collection, which was designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli entirely in that exact same shade of pink. His winning statement look brought the over-the-top energy that Coachella demands, and certainly cemented Gray as one of the weekend’s best-dressed performers.
