I don’t think X Æ A-12 shows up in 100,000+ Baby Names.
- Musician Grimes and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, who have been romantically linked for two years, welcomed a healthy baby boy on Monday evening.
- Answering a user on Twitter, Musk said that his newborn son’s name is X Æ A-12; it’s currently unclear if he was joking or not.
- Twitter had some reactions to the name choice.
Hey, Elon Musk and Grimes. I have some questions. First of all, why?
On Monday evening, the Tesla cofounder and “Violence” singer welcomed their first child, a healthy baby boy, into the world. The baby name that they seemingly chose, however, was less embraced.
After confirming that both Grimes and his newborn son were “all good” on Twitter, a user asked for the name. “X Æ A-12,” Musk responded. It’s still unclear if he was serious, joking, or if he dropped his phone and the resulting typo ended with this doomsday-level of a tweet.
If he was joking, then kudos to him (I guess?) for being aware of the way the public at large perceives his and Grimes’s sometimes-robotic and always-unusual relationship. (Shit stirrer.) If he wasn’t joking, then the onslaught of Twitter roasts cyberbullying a child who has yet to experience a full 24 hours on this earth may almost seem justified.
Future X Æ A-12, if you’re reading this, please note that the following roundup of tweets is not a comment on you or your character as much as it as a judgment on that of your parents. Also, how the hell are we supposed to pronounce your name?
