There’s something endlessly enticing about an easy summer dress. It can be slipped on with virtually no thought, and always makes for an outfit that looks chic and put-together. (Little effort, maximum results.) And who’s to say the piece can’t be worn outside of the summer months, either? Angelina Jolie certainly knows this clever styling trick. This weekend, the actor was spotted stocking up on groceries in Los Angeles—along with her daughter, Vivienne—where she put a spring stamp on her breezy linen frock.
Considering Jolie is the queen of stealthy fashion—she’s a big fan of old Celine and The Row, among other quietly-luxurious labels—it’s no surprise her take on a summer dress was equally as elegant. She wore a white summer dress with floral embroidery and a tiered skirt hemline. Overtop, she then threw on a khaki trench coat for a more seasonally-appropriate twist, and finished off the ensemble with ’70s-inspired sunglasses, a sleek leather bag, and her go-to scalloped Chloé ballet flats in pale pink.
So, while it may seem a tad early to throw on your favorite lightweight dress, consider Jolie’s approach proof that, with the right outerwear and accessories, there’s no time like the present to shop your own closet and make your summer staples work—especially as many of us now work from home.
