When Manhattan’s Hudson Yards opened this spring, an estimated 13,000 guests explored the luxurious playground of shops, restaurants, public space and high-rise apartments. On the balmy evening of Tuesday, June 25, another crowd gathered at the Yards, one that included Sarah Jessica Parker, Ken Downing, and Claire Distenfeld. They drank, dined and danced in the glitzy neighborhood ahead of the opening of its newest building, 35 Hudson Yards.
At 92 stories, 35 Hudson Yards plans to be a towering hub of opulent living. Some floors, starting at the 53rd, will be home to expansive two-to-six-bedroom apartments with interior design by renowned architect Tony Ingrao. 35 Hudson Yards will also house the world’s first Equinox Hotel as the wellness brand branches into hospitality and Equinox opened their 100th fitness club in the building today.
The celebration of the new edifice started with cocktails across the building, the neighboring 15 Hudson Yards, and the Public Square and Gardens, home to designer Thomas Heatherwick’s massive Vessel centerpiece. Dinner followed, where guests enjoyed meals at an array of nearby restaurants including TAK Room, Estiatorio Milos, Queensyard, Wild Ink, Kawi, Mercado Little Spain, and Hudson Yards Grill.
Performances beckoned the crowd back to the Public Square and Gardens, where Sarah Jessica Parker took to the stage to introduce singers Adam Lambert, Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman and Deborah Cox for a night of music under the city lights.
