Perhaps more than any other red carpet, the annual Met Gala calls for a serious beauty and fashion transformation. And with last night’s theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” attendees naturally took it to the next, very campy, level—and what better way to embody Susan Sontag’s brilliant essay than with a complete hair and makeup switch-up that requires onlookers to ask, who is she?
Actress Zendaya traded in her brunette lengths for a Cinderella-inspired blonde bouffant, while Kylie Jenner paired her lilac Versace gown with a set of long lavender waves. Elsewhere, bobbed beauty Lucy Boynton took the pewter plunge, off-setting her sparkling frock and crystal painted under-eye with a shocking shade of grey blue. And while beauty risk-taker Kristen Stewart is never one to shy away from a good beauty change, last night she reached new heights, stepping onto the carpet with a sherbet-colored pixie and coordinated bleached tangerine eyebrows. With these transformations as precedent, we can’t wait to see what they do next year.
