Madonna never stops reinventing herself. And tonight, at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, the Queen of Pop lifted the veil on her latest persona, Madame X, for the first time live.
Performing her new dancehall-inflected track “Medellín” alongside Colombian reggaeton singer Maluma, the 60-year-old singer’s lips were painted crimson and her peroxide lengths styled into retro pin-curled waves, a bedazzled X-emblazoned eye patch obscuring one eye. And while there was lots going on above the neck, it was Madge’s perfectly toned legs that ultimately stole the show.
Doing the #MedellinChaChaChaChallenge, which she announced on Twitter yesterday, her garter and fishnet tights-clad legs looked as sculpted as ever as she danced the cha cha cha with sultry allure. Said to be the handiwork of circuit, interval, and resistance training, her hard-won physique is evidence enough that enviable limbs are achievable at any age.
Demonstrating that she’s still got the best legs in the business while having as much fun as she wants, Madonna remains an iconoclastic disrupter who just keeps defying expectations.
