When it comes to Hollywood’s most private couples, there is perhaps no duo more mysterious than Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes.
Despite the fact that the two have been together for 11 years and have two children together, fans remain unaware of most details about their romance, including their marital status. But some recent hints and casual remarks from Mendes may suggest that the two actually tied the knot long ago.
During a guest appearance on the Channel 9‘s Today in Australia, the actress nonchalantly referred to Gosling—who is also in the country filming his new movie, The Fall Guy—as her “husband.”
“Everyone is so welcoming here, and my husband, Ryan, is here, and we are having the best time,” she told hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon, per ELLE.
Rumors began to swirl about the two possibly being married when Mendes debuted a new tattoo on Instagram. The ink, displayed on her inner wrist, read, “de Gosling.” At the time, BAZAAR.com noted that, in Hispanic culture, a married woman often adds her husband’s last name to her original name using de, or “of.” Therefore, her tat could hint that the actress’s name is now Eva Mendes de Gosling.
She previously addressed the marriage rumors on the Kyle & Jackie O Show podcast. When asked if the two had gotten hitched, she said, “But who says we weren’t already? I like to keep it all mysterious. I’m a very mysterious woman.”
The couple started dating in 2011 after they costarred in The Place Beyond the Pines. In 2014, they welcomed their first child, daughter Esmeralda. They welcomed their second daughter, Amada, two years later.
