At Grammy Awards, Ariana Grande is a performer and five-time nominee—in other words, the spotlight on her couldn’t be any brighter. Even still, it was somewhat surprising to see the singer double up on fashion choices, delivering not one, but two ensembles on the red carpet this evening—all before she even entered the official awards ceremony.
Grande’s first ensemble was a custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown that was strapless with a layered tulle skirt. She accessorized the dramatic dress with satin opera gloves—Beyoncé is also a fan of the retro look—that was in the same soft gray shade of her gown. Shortly after, she switched it up and changed into a similar outfit in a similar tone. This time it was a two-piece Schiaparelli creation, including a satin top with a crystal-trimmed neckline and full skirt with an oversized bow tied at the waist. The gloves, however, remained.
Why did Grande go with two red carpet looks versus one, you may ask? “I had two very special custom looks made and I couldn’t decide,” she told a red carpet interviewer. Mystery solved.
