Timothée Chalamet Is the Prince of Nonchalant Style

Behold the man we know as Timothée Chalamet. Hollywood’s favorite tender-chill boy stepped out yesterday on the frosty streets of New York in a high-low look. As usual, his skin looked baby-soft and endearingly anemic but he now sported some facial hair—a straggly goatee and late-bloomer mustache. He also wore a pair of red metallic headphones that acted as a DIY headband for his tousled mane. Keeping him warm was a simple black Prada coat from Fall 2018 with black hoodie underneath. His pants were low-slung and relaxed, revealing a pair of blue socks embellished with a print of peaches. Peeking out of his coat was a charming t-shirt with a dainty rainbow stitching around the collar.

This is the same shirt that Chalamet wore that night to the National Board of Review Gala. For that occasion, he sported the tee with a cream suit whose jacket had jet-black lapels. In other words, Chalamet hit the red carpet without bothering to change his shirt. Give the boy a sartorial round of applause! That is the kind of shoulder-shrugging confidence that made us fall for him in the first place.

Chalamet’s viral self-styled red carpet looks may have made him the most influential male in fashion in 2019, according to Lyst. Yet he clearly also excels at off-duty garb. Just last week, he was captured by a fan wearing a pink Glossier hoodie to the Uncut Gems pop-up on 47th street. Back in December, while trotting around in Tribeca, he was spotted wearing a black zip-up, and a sagging orange shirt along with dark blue jeans that hung low, revealing a slice of his boxers. (A button on his fly was exposed.) His accessory of choice? A blue glass bottle of Saratoga water sans cap. He was just doing his thing—looking good without trying too hard. Chalamet likes what he likes. And so do we.
