It looks like we weren’t the only ones pining for a Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus reunion. As it turns out, the Australian actor also hoped for a happy ending between him and his former flame of ten years.
However, things took a turn for the worse when Hemsworth’s family saw the paparazzi photos of Cyrus kissing Kaitlynn Carter, mere days after the couple publicly announced their separation. According to a source from Us Weekly, Miley “being so open about her relationship with Kaitlynn” stirred the actor to “quickly” file for divorce from the pop star.
“He thought they could work it out, but all those pictures of her and Kaitlynn ended that,” the insider said. “Liam comes from a very conservative family and his family was freaked out by it.”
An insider for E! News relayed a similar message. “Even though Miley and Liam were separated for a while before she was photographed making out on the yacht with Kaitlynn, once Liam saw those photos he decided it was time to file for divorce,” the source said. “That was it for him.”
Cyrus recently performed her newest breakup anthem, “Slide Away,” for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards. Backstage, she was photographed with new tattoosthat seem to address the end of her relationship with Hemsworth.
Cyrus also took to Twitter last week to shut down cheating rumors. “I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating,” she wrote. “But the truth is, once Liam & I reconciled,I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here.”
