A Closer Look at Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s Chucky Costumes

Barbie, eat your heart out.” That’s what the murderous doll Tiffany tells her fellow killer doll Chucky in the 1998 slasher film, Bride of Chucky—and it could certainly be said of Kourtney Kardashian’s Halloween look today. For the holiday, she and husband Travis Barker dressed up as the notoriously evil duo, and Vogue has a closer look at what went into their custom couples costume.

Paying homage to Tiffany’s iconic bridal gown, motorcycle jacket, and combat boots, Kardashian wanted to get the movie character’s edgy fashion sense right. “Kourtney loves Halloween,” Dani Michelle, Kardashian’s stylist, tells Vogue. “We wanted to re-create the look to the best of our ability.” To do so, Kardashian and Michelle had a custom-made gown by the bridal label Amsale; The late designer Amsale Aberra founded the brand back in 1985, and she was the first Black female designer to be accepted into the CFDA. Known for their simplicity, Amsale was the perfect brand to bring the sleek, strapless design to life. “It’s so fun to honor a character, and Amsale brought the dress to life so seamlessly,” says Michelle.

To make it feel more Tiffany, however, they added a big white veil, a black zipped leather jacket from By The Namesake, a custom choker necklace by Costolo, and chunky black Rick Owens boots. Don’t forget the bleached wig, pin-thin eyebrows, and black lipstick for glam. Wedding dress aside, it was the perfect costume for Kourtney, who is currently the poster child for emo-chic style.

As for Barker, he nailed Chucky’s childlike getup with a striped vintage tee, denim Dickies overalls (which were customized by Samuel Ososki of 7th Bone Tailoring), Adidas Gazelle sneakers, and a scraggly red wig. With his face stitched up with makeup, he was a dead-on imitation of Chucky, right down to the huge plastic knife—Chucky’s weapon of choice. “Hi, I’m Chucky, your friend ’till the end,” Barker captioned his Instagram photos. Creepy!
