The Best Backstage Photos From Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Show in Paris

Hardly two months passed between Chanel’s spring 2020 show at the end of Paris Fashion Week and its Métiers d’Art show, which took place in Paris today. The event always marks the start of the prefall season here at Vogue Runway, a season that will continue through the holidays and well into January too. For her fourth collection as creative director, Virginie Viard re-created Gabrielle Chanel’s famous rue Cambon apartment and tapped some of the biggest names in modeling—Kaia Gerber, Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti—to walk down a version of Coco’s legendary mirrored staircase. They wore a collection that mixed classic Chanel-isms with other new ideas, from embellished sportswear to deconstructed tailoring; head-to-toe black to ombré coral; and couture feathers to tangles of chains and pearls. Jason Lloyd-Evans was there to shoot all of the backstage action before the show; flip through his photos here, and check back for more of our prefall 2020 coverage.
